So, we asked these people “did you buy the music you listen to? Did you actually pay for it?”.

ARTIST LIVE

Boston, Mass.  (October 17, 2010) – Never before has the New England area experienced such a diverse and viable platform dedicated to featuring the regions hottest talent and showcasing America’s next music sensations.

“Artist Live Boston is back for its second season after a 20-0 thrilling first season – Bigger, Stronger and Better,” says Nick Chin, President of Brand Engine Media LLC, a visionary multi-media entertainment company, the founders of Artist Live Boston and Original Brand Manager of the successful RnB Live Hollywood (http://www.rnblivehollywood.com).

“I’m proud and excited to make the announcement about the brand new 10 week competition that starts on November 1,” says Artist Live Boston President Ken Emmanuel.   “We are excited to give people the opportunity to showcase their talent to the nations’ top record labels and smash songwriters and producers, and to give them a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Artist Live Boston’s ten-week competition will take place Mondays at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, MA starting on November 1.   A panel of selected, distinguished judges will select one winner from each show. Those ten winners will go on to compete at a Grand Finale, and one winner will be given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Our official Season Two kickoff event will feature guest of honor Bernard Alexander, the head of Business Development for Artist Live Boston, who brokered the major record distribution deal with Bungalo-Universal.

Bernard Alexander has 20 years experience in the music business. Starting out as Manager of the legendary group EPMD, he went on to serve as General Manager and Executive Producer of the Hit Squad (Redman, Das Efx, K-Solo and EPMD). After co-managing UK group The Technotronics (along side music mogul Lyor Cohen) he then became the Senior Vice President at Das Communications (an Artist Management Firm which managed the careers of Nas, The Fugees, Meatloaf, Spin Doctors, Joan Osbourne, Brownstone, Biz Markie and Kool G Rap).  Following this he accepted another General Manager role over at Def Squad (Erick Sermon, Dave Hollister, Alfonzo Hunter, Keith Murray, Redman/Method Man and EPMD) where he again was the Executive Producer for each project. Shortly thereafter he set out to start his own entity which led him to managing upcoming rap star 50 Cent (while signed to Sony), Next, and multi-platinum producers Chucky Thompson and Rodney Jerkins. In the process he secured deals that would launch the careers of JoJo and Akon, both of whom are now multi-platinum superstars. In December 09 he inked a major partnership with Vincent Herbert (Executive Producer of Lady Gaga) Walter Milsap and Interscope for young boy super group Mindless Behavior (www.mindlessbehavior.com).

“Having witnessed Artist Live Boston, I’m extremely honored to be a part of this major event,” says Bernard Alexander.  “I’m excited to see even more incredible talent and to help give them a once in a lifetime opportunity with a major record deal at the end of this historic competition.”

Hear what leading industry executives are saying about Artist Live Boston:

“I love Boston for its rich history and vibrant atmosphere.  Attending Berklee College of music was a great experience and allowed me the opportunity to enjoy this amazing city.  It’s the perfect place for budding artists and young talent alike to hone their skills. I was once one of those new artists in Boston and I was heavily influenced by the constant flow of music and creativity around me, but there were few to no music industry executives scouting in the area at that time. Veteran music executive Bob Francis has created a much-needed platform to help launch the careers of the next generation of superstars with Artist Live Boston. It has heated the city up that much more, and I’m excited to see the new stars born from Artist Live Boston.”
-Makeba Riddick, Considered by many to be the #1 Female Songwriter in the world right now.  Songwriter to #1 Hit Songs, “Rude Boy (Rihanna),” “Live Your Life (T.I ft. Rihanna),” “Deja Vu (Beyonce ft. Jay Z) & “All I Have (Jennifer Lopez ft. LL Cool J).”

“Artist Live Boston is a no brainer; this is long overdue in Boston! I will be shopping for artists/songwriters & producers regularly there, while stopping by Legal Seafood.”
– Darrale Jones, Vice President of A&R, Atlantic Records, New York

“Boston is a great market; historically you have always had great music coming out of Boston. With groups like New Kids on the Block and New Edition, Boston has a rich history filled with talented artists, and is home to some amazing local radio stations. You also have Berklee School of Music and Emerson College. Boston is a great training ground for artists and home to talented music executives like Bob Francis.  As far as I am concerned, artists from Boston always have an open door to my office.”
– Naim Ali, Vice President of Urban A &R, Warner Bros Records, Los Angeles/New York

“It’s a great thing that Bob is doing with Artist Live Boston. Bob has been all around the industry from New York to Los Angeles and has put a dent in the industry. Making it in this industry is all about building relationships, and Bob has all the right connections. I have an open door to any artist Bob feels can compete in this game, he knows the game well and I will check out anyone he brings to my attention.”
– Maani Edwards, Vice President of Urban Creative Affairs, West Coast, Universal Music Publishing Group

“RnB Live Hollywood was a great vehicle for me as an A&R person to be exposed to the hottest upcoming talent in Hollywood and beyond. I could keep my finger on the pulse of what was hot and current, and I am excited for the launch of Artist Live Boston for the same reasons. I know Artist Live Boston, like RnB Live Hollywood, will be putting forward the areas hottest talent and I am excited for the opportunity to tap into it.”
