Rox / Dor State Rep & Urban League clash in article over conference outreach

There can only be one marketing chief when it comes to projects like this. And, Boston can be a hard city when cracking that evasive turnout curve. Ask MoNique, Ask Maxwell. Both canceled Bank Boston Pavillon concert plans after ticket sales faltered.  MoNique went to Connecticut and Maxwell didn’t show. But the Urban League has numbers ( BBJ article enclosed) that show trhe NUL 2011 conference did well in Boston without a single racial incident reported.

Urban League: the conference hosted two events at Roxbury’s Hibernian Hall, each catered by local businesses. The musicians who played at the event were mostly people of color, referred by Wally’s Jazz Café in the South End. Olive Tree Books in Springfield provided copies for author signings, Jazzy Sportswear printed t-shirts for the conference’s 560 volunteers, and the conference boasted 40 minority vendors, according to Williams.
