The organizations Church and Prisons, Inc. (George Walters-Sleyton), BCIC (Sadiki Kamboon) and the Blackstonian ( Jamarhl Crawford) and many other activists, alt-newsmakers, bloggers, citizens and leaders in Boston’s community of color really turned up the heat on this one.
Their pressure defeated a likely to pass piece of legislation affecting law breakers.
With Governor Patrick receiving the 3-strikes bill after its passage in the Massachusetts legislature under veto-proof circumstances, it sat on his desk for his signature.
Hours before the deadline, he decided he couldn’t sign it in the present form.
